EvilFuzzyDoom's Homebrew Corner 1

We all love homebrew units, right? Making stuff up, pretending we're good enough to be game designers, going through the back-and-forth discussion of whether something is totally OP or complete naff... all lots of fun. I figure I can channel some creative energies into knocking together some homebrew models, but with the added condition that I have to be able to write a proper background & story for each of them. Challenge? Yes. Fun? Oh yes.

Alright, so I've got nothing better to write about at the moment - the New Church League has come to a close and honestly, there wasn't much I could write about the Grand Final seeing as I wasn't there. Menoth won though, so I guess that's a thing. In the end, there was only one player in the league who I didn't win a game against and he plays dirty Cryx anyway. And I beat the eventual winner. So I feel pretty good about it all. There will be another league soonishly, but we're all a bit busy with other things etc etc etc. I'll start writing battle reports again soon.

Maybe some day I'll write something broader about Leagues in general but for now it's a bit of a non-starter for me. The NCL sadly took a weird downturn both in results and fun for me when we started ramping up the points values - I'd only really played 35 point games until the later rounds of the League, but we went for 50 and 75 point games in the last two rounds. Also, my 'Locks didn't really work that great together (pMadrak and pGrissel) and I'd started to tire of them by that point, so that certainly reduced the awesome.

On the other hand, we all love homebrew units, right? Making stuff up, pretending we're good enough to be game designers, going through the back-and-forth discussion of whether something is totally OP or complete naff... all lots of fun. I figure I can channel some creative energies into knocking together some homebrew models, but with the added condition that I have to be able to write a proper background & story for each of them. Challenge? Yes. Fun? Oh yes.

So here is the first of these...

Dire Troll Feeder
Trollbloods Pygmy Solo

"They're always hungry. They can bite a man in half. They eat anything they can get their hands on and when that's gone, they start getting really dangerous... and that guy, that little guy... he FEEDS them?!"
- Alten Ashley, Monster Hunter

Pygs are already renowned for their cleverness and agility, if not their bravery. Even so, there is a great deal of respect among Trollbloods for the brave few pygmy trolls who work closely with their direkin. These brave pygs are exceptions to their species' normal behaviour of trying not to become a snack; instead, they run headlong into potential danger by keeping themselves within arms' reach of the hungriest mouths in the Kriels.

Many such pygmy trolls will mount the backs of dire trolls to assist in war, but there are others who take things a step closer to deadly danger; these pygs run into battle carrying large satchels of food to provide refreshment and aid to their gigantic cousins, lobbing hunks of meat or small beer kegs to keep them sated. This handful of insanely brave - or bravely insane - individuals will even use their initiative on occasion to bait dire trolls into attacking an enemy; many a foe of the trollbloods has noticed the inconspicuous satchel of foodstuffs bouncing to a stop at his feet only to look up and find an oncoming maw full of big pointy teeth.

Sometimes, however, things can go terribly wrong for a young pyg in an unlucky situation and every so often one is snatched up by an angry dire troll who got a little confused about who his friends were. Many a feeder has had his otherwise successful career come to such an inglorious end, and his fellows will usually commemorate him in some way - mocking laughter is a favourite.

Uh Oh! - If a friendly Faction living warbeast in this model's command range frenzies then this model becomes the frenzy target of the warbeast.

Like what you've seen? Think it will work? Want to test it out? Think it's rubbish? Let me know!
